Clínica Episcopal Esperanza y Caridad (CEEyC) was founded by the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic in 1998 to serve the medical needs of the people of San Pedro de Macorís. Their mission is to show the love of God by offering quality services and programs oriented towards improving health, physically, mentally, and spiritually for their neighbors, families and community. This mission is accomplished through efforts to serve the poor, the needy and the destitute; giving services to people without discrimination of their social class, economic status, race, gender or religion; operating without profit; services include rehabilitation, curative medicine, preventive medicine, mental health and integrated care for people with HIV/AIDS.
The rehabilitation aspect of the clinic initially was part of the Asociación Dominicana de Rehabilitación (ADR), but after growing together for 13 years, the ADR decided they needed more space and moved to open their services in a separate location. Rather than immediately launch a PT clinic at the CEEyC in competition, we waited several years until the Fall of 2016. Currently the PT clinic at CEEyC is functioning well with Dominican staff members. Thanks to a grant from Trinity Wall Street, some significant remodeling recently occurred that increased the PT gym space and improved access to the clinic.
